Social Ministry is asking for your help with a Join Hands Day Event- a mission project which will send gifts to our men and women overseas in the armed forces. SEWERS NEEDED! Do you like to or can you sew? Social Ministry will assist Lutheran World Relief with School Kits this year due to recent natural disasters affecting several countries globally. Supplies have to be enclosed in a tote or drawstring type bag per kit. Please call Liz Wagner at 631-862-7508 if you can help. Patterns for the bags are on Narthex table.

 

SCHOOL SUPPLIES

As our congregation gave school supplies so very generously to Brighter Tomorrows in the past, this year the Social Ministry Committee will provide School Kits for Lutheran World Relief.  Sales of school supplies are starting to appear in the local fliers.

We need ONLY the following items for EACH kit:

 

-one 8"X 10 1/2" 150-200 sheet padded or spiral notebook or three 70 sheet notebooks,

-one blunt safety scissor,

-one 30 cm. ruler (or ruler with cm. on one side and inches on the other),

-one pencil sharpener,

-six- #2 pencils with erasers secured with a rubber band,

-one 2 1/2" eraser,

-12 sheets assorted colored construction paper,

-one box of 16 or 24 crayons,

-one sturdy 12" X 14" cloth bag with handles or drawstring

(See above under Sewers Needed).

The "school supply tree" will be in the Narthex end of July through August and packaging of supplies into bags/totes the end of August.

-We are taking back lawn mowing from contractor.

-Mowers , trimmers and rakers needed on a weekly basis.

-Care of flower beds and trees and shrubs.

 

REPAIR PEOPLE

-If you have the tools and skills to make repairs and do all around

handy person type work let us know

 

ARCHITECT/ENGINEER - LICENSED DESIGN PROFESSIONAL

-We need you to prepare and donate a comprehensive evaluation

of church properties, provide budgeting and critical advise regarding the short term and long term needs of the "Care of God's House" at St James Lutheran
