GRADUATE INFORMATION

Graduates from the congregation (teens being graduated from high School and adults receiving advanced degrees) will be recognized at services on June 14, 15 and 18.  If you have a graduate in your family, please let us know by completing the form or contacting Janis in the office at 584-5212 or Janis@stjlc.com by June 1 to let us know.

 

SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATIONS:  George L. Schaefer Scholarships are available to those high school seniors who are attending college this fall.  Applications have been mailed to all our high school seniors.  If you have not received one please contact the church office.  All St. James Lutheran Church members who are high school graduates going off to college this fall will receive Schaefer Scholarship monetary recognition, and if you are in any year of study for full time church work (such as a pastor or Concordia Accredited Christian Day School worker), please contact the church office for the M. Arthur Speidel Scholarship application available to members of St. James Lutheran Church studying for church work.

THE DEADLINE TO SUBMIT SCHOLARSHIP FORM IS MAY 31st.

If you would like to attend the support group for those who have experienced the loss of a loved one, on Tuesday at 5:30 - 6:30, please call Paulina Janssen (828-1371) before then to confirm that you will be attending. As this is a support group, we cannot meet with less than 5 people. Pants and Sweat Shirts for Women & Children Rape victims at Stony Brook Hospital.  (also light weight items for warmer weather)

Mite Boxes-Place your loose change in mite boxes to support LWML (Lutheran Women’s Missionary League) ministries to local churches and chaplaincy programs.

Stamp Collections-cut out and leave ¼ inch space around stamps on your incoming mail to help pay for deaf interpreters for the annual LWML conventions.

Soda Pop Tops Collection-Help pay for children on dialysis to attend summer camps.

Smithtown Emergency Food Pantry-Weekly collection to help feed the local hungry.

 

A GREAT BIG THANK YOU to Gus Wade for sprinkler system repair, seeding, mowing and planting 8 flats of flowers around church grounds.

 

REGISTRATION FOR  POWER LAB, DISCOVERING JESUS’ MIRACULOUS POWER , VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL 2008, CONTINUES THROUGH MAY 16.  Forms are on Narthex table.

Summer Worship Schedule:  June 28 will be the last Saturday service for the summer.  Sunday services at 8:30 & 11:00 and Wednesday at 6:30 pm (in the Parish Hall Worship Center) will continue with Holy communion.  Saturday services will resume on September 6th.

 

Attention Ushers, Acolytes and Assisting Ministers- please contact the office with summer vacation requests before schedule printing.

ARCHITECT/ENGINEER - LICENSED DESIGN PROFESSIONAL

-We need you to prepare and donate a comprehensive evaluation

of church properties, provide budgeting and critical advise regarding the short term and long term needs of the "Care of God's House" at St James Lutheran
